One of the most revered leaders in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Latin America, Bishop Alfonso Uribe Jaramillo, died this past summer (15 July 1993) at the age of 79. He was one of the first to embrace the Renewal and accompanied it with great fervor. He founded a number of seminaries and religious congregations. He was the author of many books and the Bible, the Renewal, and the charism of healing.
In addition Bishop Uribe Jaramillo promoted five retreat for priests and another five for bishops in Latin America. It was through his work that many bishops and priests are involved in the Charismatic Renewal today. He also served as a consultor to ICCRS.
Bishop Uribe Jaramillo was distinguished for his ministry of inner healing and cure of the sick as well as for his service to the poor, to priests and Religious. May he rest in the peace given to good and faithful servants!
