One of the reasons for moving the International Communication Office of the Catholic Charismatic renewal to Brussels was to work more closely with Cardinal Léon-Joseph Suenens, who has been asked by Pope Paul VI to take a concern for the international development of the renewal.
In order to express this relationship, ICO has asked Cardinal Suenens to be our Episcopal Advisor. Cardinal Suenens has agreed to serve in this capacity and is providing ample opportunities for us to consult with him on the various matters that come up in the work of ICO.
When we decided to move the office to Brussels, we also hoped that we would be in a better position to internationalize the staff. We are happy to announce that this is happening sooner than we expected with the addition of Sr. Christine-Marie Bogaert to our staff. Sr. Christine Marie is a Belgian nun who has extensive experience in both the French and Flemish speaking renewal. We hope to add additional staff members, skilled in the work required and representative of the international scope of the renewal as the right people and the necessary funding appear.
We also hope to work with Cardinal Suenens during the next year in establishing an International Service Committee for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal that will adequately oversee the work of ICO and provide pastoral oversight for future international conferences.
Please pray with us that we may be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit in this.
