Wherever the Gospel is proclaimed, there the Kingdom of God spreads its light and peace and emits its immense healing powers. Throughout its many decades of experience, Catholic Charismatic Renewal has experienced that the proclamation of the good news about the love of God the Father, who forgives humankind through Jesus the Son, frees people from their sin, allows them to share in God’s nature by filling them with the Holy Spirit, and calls them to new life as children of God.
In other words, the encounter with Jesus Christ, who rose again and lives, transforms people’s lives. As a con-sequence, whilst they come to have great awareness of God’s mercy and of their dignity as God’s children, they also acquire a clearer understanding of the dark points in their lives that are impediments to communion with God, with all men and women, and to a Christian life lived to the full. As the Gospel reminds us, the presence of the light of the Word brings out the darkness that is within us (cf. Jn 1:5).

Deliverance ministry is a necessary dimension of evangelization in our world, a liberating encounter with the mercy of God so emphasized by Pope Francis. The reflections and guidelines in this booklet represent the mature fruit of a greater participation of lay people in the mission of the Church.
Ever since I began writing about deliverance ministry, I hoped that someone would set a firm foundation for deliverance ministry in a Catholic context with a greater theological precision than I could provide.
I am delighted to say that this book has done it. This work shows that deliverance ministry can be a transformative part of parish life that the Holy Spirit can use to bring freedom to God’s people!
As a Church, we believe that the Spirit of God is always at work. This timely document is simply one more proof that such work continues. The document successfully accomplishes the purpose set forth in its introduction by fashioning a solid theological foundation for deliverance ministry and then providing correspondingly sound pastoral guidelines in the application of the ministry.
Any person, regardless of how they may be involved in deliverance ministry, will gain insight by reading this document.
