In a letter addressed to Fr. Tom Forrest, director of the International Communication Office, Ralph Martin has resigned as chairman of the International Council for the office. In his letter he wrote: ”As you know, when I agreed to serve as chairman of the Council of the International Communication Office in its first year of existence, I did so with the understanding that I would just serve in this position for one year to insure continuity and stability. After this year, then, I would continue my service simply as a Council member and no longer as chairman. As you know, we also agreed as a Council that you would take over my responsibilities as chairman of the Council after the completion of the first year.

“Now that the first year of the Council has passed, I am simply writing to inform you that I and all the Council members will expect you to function as chairman of the Council from now on. I think that you have done an excellent job as director of the ICO and vice-chairman of the Council during this past year and I am sure that you will do an excellent job as chairman of the Council. I am looking forward to continuing to serve you and the ICO as a member of the Council and through the writing and speaking that this greater freedom from administrative responsibilities makes possible. May the Lord continue to bless you”.
